Coral Reef Academy Helps with Distribution on Tsunami Relief Aid

On November 3, 2009, Coral Reef Academy students and staff began assisting with the unloading and distribution of tsunami relief materials donated and collected in the United States.

Under the auspices of Help Samoa, a California based aid group, and the local Samoa Umbrella for Non Governmental Organizations (SUNGO), huge quantities of materials (food, clothing, hygiene and household items) were collected in the US and then shipped to Samoa through the donations of labor and supplies.  CRA was called upon to help when the shipment arrived on island and this project will take several days to complete, pictures of the initial effort are copied below.  After the unloading and sorting of the donations, students will load the packages into delivery trucks and then help to distribute the items to those in need.  We are very grateful for this opportunity to be of assistance. If you would like to learn more about Help Samoa, please visit their website at: http://www.helpsamoa.com/.

As always, our appreciation for your ongoing support during Samoa’s time of need.
