 In loving memory....

November  2009

               Robert Wilson Spear

Rob passed away on Tuesday November 17,2009 after a long struggle with ALS ( Lou Gehrig's Disease) .  His spirit toward life never faultered as this awful disease took the use of his muscles away and eventually his life.

Rob moved to Astoria, Oregon  from Sandpoint, Idaho to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren.  He was cared for and loved so deeply by his wife Jodi  and his daughters, Robyn and Rebekah. His sons,  Mark and Robb were also able to make frequent trips out to see their dad. Rob's father and brothers gave him unyielding love and support. The calls and emails from friends meant so much to him.

Rob made such a difference for so many kids and their families.  His parenting wisdom, his firewall words and his guiding stories will be remembered by all who were lucky to have crossed paths with him.

He loved history and had an incredible  ability to make the past come alive.  We will all remember the laughter shared as we listened to his jokes.

His thirst for knowledge is reflected in his incredible collection of old autographed books.  Throughout his life, authors like Ralph Waldo Emerson, provided Rob with the scafolding to create messages  that will continue to  inspire us all.

Rob and I always joked about the name of the company, Deliberate Directions.  We decided it should be Too Many Directions!  We had so many different ideas of how to assist families and business's.  We ran workshops,  made videos, talked with clients, wrote a book, made CD's, while simultaneously moving in about twenty other directions.

During the last two years, Rob was determined  to create a website, with CD's and videos for each of us to use as a reminder of his philosophy toward parenting and relationships.  His quotes and messages are shared with you at:  www.deliberatedirections.com

Rob taught us that the power is in the question.   These questions,  quotes and sayings will be passed down from generation to generation.  We will miss him a great deal and will carry his advice, wisdom, stories and words with us forever.

That's unfortunate

Nevertheless
